Croatia joins the International AAC Awareness Month

The project "ICT Competence Network for Innovative Services for Persons with Complex Communication Needs" organizes the Open Day of the project on the 17th October 2014 in the premises of Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences in Zagreb, capital of Croatia.

ICT-AAC Open Day events join together professionals and parents interested in application of innovative information and communication services for persons with complex communication needs. During this specific edition of the ICT-AAC Open Day the emphasis will be put on promotion of the International AAC Awareness Month through professional experiences about the alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) practice. Additionally, two new applications developed within the ICT-AAC project will be presented. 

Second Dissemination and Visibility Events

Second dissemination and visibility events are collocated with Third Croatian Symposium on Early Childhood intervention and will be held on September 27 and 28 2013 in Zadar, Croatia, at the University of Zadar, Obala kralja Petra Krešimira IV 2.

The purpose of the dissemination event is to present project's results to current and future stakeholders as well as the general public. The event will consist of special session on September 27th and a poster session on September 28th. For more information please consult our official invitation (in Croatian).

Visibility event will be held on September 27th at 16:15 and will focus on presenting project results to wider audience. Inivitiation with more information can be found here (in Croatian).

Two iOS applications available

Letters for iOS

The first new application is ICT-AAC Letters ("ICT-AAC Slovarica" in croatian), application that helps children to learn visual symbols - letters - and new phonological forms. You can find more info about the application and download it here.

Communicator for iOS

The second application available is new version of ICT-AAC Communicator ("ICT-AAC Komunikator" in croatian), the application that allows people with complex communication needs easier communication with the environment. New application features include 1500 new categorized symbols, swiping between screens with symbols, changing background color, changing symbol's name text color, changing symbol's frame color, along with some bug fixes. Congratulations to iStudio for their big success

Presentation of EU Funded Projects

Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports on Friday, 14 June  officially introduced 19 new projects that are part of the "Science and Inovation Investment Fund, Phase II.", among which is the ICT - AAC project.

Presenting contracts worth more than EUR 11.2 million, Minister Zeljko Jovanovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Branko Grcic said that this is the way of greater investment in research aimed at raising the competitiveness of Croatian companies and transmit knowledge in Croatian economy.


Most projects (four) are with Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb.

Director of Technical Assistance Project EU Nicolas Manolopoulos congratulated holders projects and called for even greater and more efficient use of EU funds.
